Last week at CES®, Stampede, the global leader in value added Pro AV distribution spoke with Clark Brown, vice president of sales for LG Business Solutions.
The first topic was the pre-show keynote, delivered by Dr. I.P. Park, president and chief technology officer for LG Electronics. If you haven’t seen it, Dr. Park’s keynote was called AI for an Even Better Life, in which he outlined the company’s vision for the future and highlighted the importance of evolving intelligence in consumer electronics. Dr. Park also illustrated LG’s continued efforts to facilitate a culture of open innovation.
LG Business Solutions is always thinking how they can bring some of the things that are happening in the consumer world into the commercial world. For example, in the keynote Dr. Park had noted that intelligent signage will turn the physical elements of space such as walls, signboards and even floors, into an active, intelligent part of the environment.
On the subject of technology, the LG booth showcased a great deal of innovation. LG OLED was there, along with mobile, displays, appliances and more.
Thin Clients and cloud computing was discussed next. Brown noted that there is so much data going into the cloud today and corporations and businesses need quality display devices to view it. LG recently launched a portfolio of Thin Client devices to meet those needs.
Regarding display quality, LG is known for the quality of the way their glass is made using In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. In fact, LG Business Solutions now offers a family of medical displays, surgical displays and clinical review displays – a new initiative that complements what the company has been doing for many years in digital signage and desktop displays.
CES2019 was the major show for the launch of LG’s video wall displays with 0.44 mm bezel – the thinnest bezel on the market. Video wall is an important category in signage and public displays and LG is a key player.
A hot topic was LED. Direct View LED (DVLED) is seen on outdoor and indoor displays today with greater frequency. LG is a manufacturer of its own DVLED technology and DVLED is a very important part of the LG B2B business. Brown hinted that we’ll be seeing more products in this category in 2019.
LG Business Solutions is always pushing the envelope on technology and will be coming to InfoComm 2019 in Orlando to showcase the latest innovations. Public signage is being used today in all walks of life and it is exciting to have unique products that can help end users deliver their message.
