World’s First 10K Interactive Video Wall System Features LG Ultra-Narrow 0.9mm Bezel Displays

It’s a creation of Q1 Design, the industry leaders in digital sales and marketing solutions for residential property project marketing; and Userful™, a leading provider of video communication solutions.

The install is located at a landmark riverfront location on Queen St. in Brisbane City by one of Australia’s most awarded and trusted national developers responsible for some of Australia’s most recognizable high-end property developments.

The 10K video wall system, utilizing LG displays with 0.9mm bezels, is used in the Experience Center on a daily basis to showcase the landmark development and ultimately help sell property within the building. The video wall is so impressive that it draws people from the street into the center.

In the Experience Center sales agents and customers interact less than three feet away from the video wall, which is why an extremely high level of resolution was key in making the experience both impressive and immersive.

Q1 Design’s video walls webpage states, “4K video wall? That’s old news. 8K video wall? Not innovative enough for us at Q1 Design. It is not often these days that you see technology that is so amazing it blows you away.

“That is exactly what we set out to create with the world’s first UW10K Interactive Videowall. Comprising of 24 55” LG ultra-narrow 0.9mm bezel screens and a full 11520×4320 pixel resolution. The image detail is real enough to mesmerize onlookers with video so immersive they could dive in.”

The video wall is powered by a 10K Userful software API solution. The software allows content to be displayed from any source, anywhere on display walls of 100+ screens using just one PC/Server. Users can control the video wall and interact with it from a desktop, phone or tablet.

To make the most of this powerful communication solution, Q1 Design developed a mobile app to allow dynamic interactive control of content using a touch screen iPad. With it, users can switch between floor level units, floor plans, views and features, with 3D walkthroughs, fly throughs and more. And feel like they’re right there.

See LG’s Advanced Medical Imaging Capture and Display Devices at HIMSS19

blogPost1

The HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Global Conference & Exhibition brings together 45,000+ health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives and market suppliers from around the world. Exceptional education, world-class speakers, cutting-edge products and powerful networking are hallmarks of this industry-leading conference. HIMSS19 will run from February 11 to 15 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

LG will be there, at Booth #1687, showcasing a variety of its U.S. healthcare solutions – advanced medical imaging capture and display devices designed to provide visual confidence while maximizing efficiency in radiology and surgery. Among the products will be LG’s recently launched Thin Clients – secure cloud endpoints in All-in-One (AIO), desktop box and laptop form factors. These products accommodate the shift toward cloud infrastructures and the need for reliable, secure and manageable IT solutions, especially in data-laden and cost-sensitive applications like HIS, RIS and education.

Introducing a New PACS Hybrid Worklist Solution

LG’s All-in-One (AIO) Thin Clients can push modern Picture Archiving and Communication Systems workstations into their most productive and effective form – reducing components and TCO. In this unique application the AIO Thin Clients do not require a cloud infrastructure; instead, they are used as a pure web browser.

The innovative new solution changes today’s PACS workstation setup to make it easier and uncluttered for the end user. It eliminates the large workstation computer, graphics card and bulky cables, and replaces them with an LG 38-inch AIO Curved UltraWide® Thin Client. The AIO Thin Client serves as a computer and also as the worklist monitor, to run PACS web-browser-based applications. Users can connect up to two LG or third-party Review/Diagnostic monitors for a complete PACS solution.

Going to HIMSS19? Be sure to see these and other LG medical imaging products at Booth #1687.

LG OLED Falls Exhibit Makes a Big Splash at CES 2019

In case you missed the show, you missed an amazing, immersive installation of flexible LG OLED commercial displays that wowed the crowds. The “LG OLED Falls” featured 260 LG OLED digital signage screens, in curved and flat configurations, giving tens of thousands of CES visitors a one-of-a-kind experience of natural wonders.

Welcoming visitors to LG’s sprawling CES booth adjacent to the main entrance of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the stunning LG OLED Falls featured 76 concave, 72 convex and 112 flat 55-inch LG OLED screens. It was a must-see CES attraction, following in the tradition of the “LG OLED Canyon” at CES 2018 and the “LG OLED Tunnel” at CES 2017.

CES attendees’ jaws literally dropped when they saw the LG OLED Falls, which measured 20 feet high and 65 feet wide, displaying alluring images of curves of the desert, waterfalls, ocean and light. The incredible video experience was further enhanced by advanced, immersive audio, which is included in 2019 LG OLED TVs for the consumer market.

LG OLED technology has created a new high-end category of displays that delivers an awe-inspiring picture with perfect black and incredible color, even from wide viewing angles, unlike any LCD/LED display. LG OLED uses self-lighting pixels that can be turned on and off individually for exact control of image brightness and quality, delivering infinite contrast ratio optimized for high dynamic range content. And with no separate light source, the displays are extremely lightweight and thin, making them flexible enough to be curved, or rolled.

LG B2B Interview at CES2019 Discusses Company, Technology and Products

Last week at CES®, Stampede, the global leader in value added Pro AV distribution spoke with Clark Brown, vice president of sales for LG Business Solutions.

The first topic was the pre-show keynote, delivered by Dr. I.P. Park, president and chief technology officer for LG Electronics. If you haven’t seen it, Dr. Park’s keynote was called AI for an Even Better Life, in which he outlined the company’s vision for the future and highlighted the importance of evolving intelligence in consumer electronics. Dr. Park also illustrated LG’s continued efforts to facilitate a culture of open innovation.

LG Business Solutions is always thinking how they can bring some of the things that are happening in the consumer world into the commercial world. For example, in the keynote Dr. Park had noted that intelligent signage will turn the physical elements of space such as walls, signboards and even floors, into an active, intelligent part of the environment.

On the subject of technology, the LG booth showcased a great deal of innovation. LG OLED was there, along with mobile, displays, appliances and more.

Thin Clients and cloud computing was discussed next. Brown noted that there is so much data going into the cloud today and corporations and businesses need quality display devices to view it. LG recently launched a portfolio of Thin Client devices to meet those needs.

Regarding display quality, LG is known for the quality of the way their glass is made using In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. In fact, LG Business Solutions now offers a family of medical displays, surgical displays and clinical review displays – a new initiative that complements what the company has been doing for many years in digital signage and desktop displays.

CES2019 was the major show for the launch of LG’s video wall displays with 0.44 mm bezel – the thinnest bezel on the market. Video wall is an important category in signage and public displays and LG is a key player.

A hot topic was LED. Direct View LED (DVLED) is seen on outdoor and indoor displays today with greater frequency. LG is a manufacturer of its own DVLED technology and DVLED is a very important part of the LG B2B business. Brown hinted that we’ll be seeing more products in this category in 2019.

LG Business Solutions is always pushing the envelope on technology and will be coming to InfoComm 2019 in Orlando to showcase the latest innovations. Public signage is being used today in all walks of life and it is exciting to have unique products that can help end users deliver their message.

Why We Love Touch Screens

121418_880x440

We have them on our smartphones and tablets. On our home appliances and car dashboards. On kiosks and industrial machinery. And they’re appearing in more and more technology. People today have become very familiar with the use of touch screens, and the speed at which they provide the desired functions or information. Even small children have become familiar with touch screen functions, and it can be amazing when you see interactions between toddlers and smartphones. No doubt, touch screen technology is here to stay, and grow.

So, what is it about touch screens that we love? Lots of things. The digital age has conditioned us to expect instant gratification on our devices. We don’t like waiting and touch screens accommodate quickly. Tech-savvy customers have come to expect a digitally connected business. Self-order kiosks have become very popular means to avoid standing in long lines.

Touch screens are easy to use. They can be intuitive with basic touch and gestures. Just point at what you want, then touch. People entering a large building and seeing an interactive way-finding display in the lobby might be relieved to not have to find and ask someone for directions. Touch screens can even enable guest check-in at hotels.

Touch screens are easily accessible. Users with physical limitations and senior citizens often find a touch screen much more user-friendly than a keyboard, let alone a system with keyboard and mouse. And touch screen signage installed in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements can accommodate people in wheelchairs.

Touch screens increase user accuracy. Referring again to self-order kiosks, a user is virtually guaranteed to get the right order as opposed to speaking into microphones at the drive-thru or ordering over the counter. And that also applies to store cashiers using touch screens at the registers.

Touch screens can bring instant rewards. If the touch screen display is equipped with Beacon and Bluetoothâ Low Energy (BLE) technology and the customer has the store’s app enabled on their smartphone, the display can provide a personalized experience and offer discount codes or quick purchase suggestions based on the customer’s ordering history on the app.

Touch screens are durable. They’re available for outdoor displays that are purpose-built to withstand harsh conditions. These touch screens are not affected by dirt, dust, rain or grease. An outdoor display with protective glass can fend off bumps and bangs too.

No article on touch screens would be complete without addressing the obvious: Have you looked at your device’s touch screen after a day of use? See the dirt? It’s an easy clean, of course, but imagine a touch screen in a public environment. That thought alone is a compelling case for a business to clean them regularly and diligently. Be sure to follow the display manufacturer’s cleaning procedure, as you don’t want to affect touch screen performance.

What’s on LG’s Menu for QSR?

In September and October we detailed how digital signage is improving the QSR experience, from enhanced customer experiences, effortless menu management and effective advertising to expanded drive-thru performance and increased efficiency in the kitchen/food prep areas.

Still, it is not uncommon for QSR franchisees to be hesitant about transitioning to a digital environment. Reasons range from their use of legacy technology to a lack of resources for the significant investment required.

So when we’re asked what we can do for a QSR that wants to ease into digital, we start by recommending our very popular digital menu boards along with a SuperSignÔ and webOS for Signage system, and we also suggest finding a good CMS partner. Since content creation, integration and day-to-day management can be a weighty issue, LG offers the solutions to ensure QSR franchisees, content creators and system managers have powerful tools for seamless operation.

As the business realizes the benefits of digital signage we can take it to the next level. QSRs can look to a wide range of LG displays to address their needs from engaging customers throughout the store to standing out from the competition. Today’s innovative commercial displays can revitalize the store’s image from the outside in.

Here’s a quick menu of our digital deliciousness for QSR:

High-Brightness Outdoor Displays – New XE Series IP56-rated all-season outdoor displays in 49″, 55″ and 75″ class for the drive-thru and outdoor kiosks. With an auto brightness sensor they can adjust brightness depending on the ambient light – a maximum 3,000 cd/m2 makes them clearly visible even in direct sunlight.

Menu Boards – SM5KE Series digital signage is the quintessential digital menu board, and sizes ranging from 32″ to 55″ class ensure a good fit in virtually any QSR. The display can even operate as a virtual router which can be a wireless access point for mobile devices. A 24/7 operation rating, conformal coating and auto fail over feature make this series a veritable QSR workhorse.

Smart TV Signage – 43” to 55” SuperSignÔ displays can simultaneously broadcast TV programs and QSR advertisements via the built-in TV tuner. Show live sports and local news programs to reduce the customers’ perceived wait time.

Self-Order Kiosks – With embedded Beacon and Bluetoothâ Low Energy (BLE) technology the displays can offer a personalized experience to customers that have the QSR’s app on their smartphone. Things like quick ordering of favorites and loyalty discounts can be offered immediately as the customer approaches the display.

And now for the Wow:

Narrow Bezel Video Walls – 55″ displays with nearly borderless designs can be tiled together to create massive video walls that can stop customers in their tracks with an immersive visual experience.

Ultra-Stretch Displays – The 88″ display with 58:9 widescreen format easily grabs attention in wall mounted or floor standing applications. Add touch screen interactivity and you’ve got a seven foot tall Ultra High Definition customer assistant.

Open-Frame LG OLED Display – It doesn’t get any more exciting than LG OLED in a QSR. These ultra-thin curved displays can be used in a variety of shapes and be made into video walls too. And dual-sided flat LG OLED displays can swap or mirror content on either side.

Transparent Displays – WFB Series signage and LAT300MT1 LED film inspire striking new placements for digital content when the goal is to see not only the content, but what’s behind it.

Touch Overlay Kit – The KT-490 attachable touch screen changes standard digital signage into interactive signage. Great for self-order kiosks.

In the QSR business, time is money. Resources may be limited and there’s a good chance existing platforms are outdated. Starting with digital menus and an Internet-based content management solution can lay the foundation for an amazing display of ROI.
